Communication is fundamental to success both in the classroom and in life. Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices allow a person to participate more fully in educational, daily care and social situations.  Our Easy Talk Communicators open the door for those who lack the ability to communicate effectively, to interact and socialize verbally with teachers, peers, family and friends, thereby paving the way to gaining greater independence.

Weight:
1.5 lbs.

Icon holder length: 10.5"

Easy Talk Communicators require 4 AA batteries (not included).  We recommend using Duracell or Energizer alkaline batteries only.  Other types of batteries supply lower voltage and the unit may not perform properly. Do not use rechargeable batteries and never mix old and new or different brands or types of batteries.

The battery compartments are located on the bottom of the unit.  Remove the battery covers and install the AA batteries, paying attention to battery polarity. Replace the battery covers and secure them with the screws.

Turn the unit on by turning the “On/Off/Volume” knob clockwise.

To record, press and hold the red “RECORD” button at the back of the unit, and then press down on one of the colored switches.  You will hear a single beep.  Continuing to press both the record button and the colored switch, record your information.  Release the record button and the colored switch.  You will hear 2 beeps, signaling the end of the recording.  Record on the remaining switches in the same way.

To play back your message, lightly press on the recorded colored switch and then release.  It is not necessary to apply continued pressure on the plate when listening to the message.  The communicator will playback the entire message, even if pressure on the switch is released.  If you do apply continued pressure to the plate, your recorded message will repeat.

Easy Talk will retain recorded information until recorded over, even if the batteries are disconnected.

Adjust the volume level to your preference with the “On/Off/Volume” control.

For best results when using the icon holders, we recommend laminating any photos or pictures printed on regular “copy” paper so that they stand upright and remain secure in the holder.

If you will not be Easy Talk Communicator for an extended amount of time, remove the batteries.

All Easy Talk Communicators can be wiped clean with any household multi-purpose cleaner and disinfectant.  Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they may scratch the surface.  Do not submerge the unit, as it will damage the electrical components.

If the Easy Talk Communicator does not function correctly:

  1. Reset the unit. Disconnect the power by removing one of the batteries for 20 seconds.  Re-install the batteries.
  2. If the communicator still does not function properly, replace all the batteries paying close attention to polarity.

If the toys/devices connected to the communicator do not function properly:

  1. Make sure that the cord is pushed all the way in and there is no gap.
  2. Test your toy/device with another switch to rule it out as the source of the problem.
